My soul
lived in a kingdom of imperfections
they were the dragons I always lived with
Yet, when he came
he didn’t see a rail thin body
he saw the voluptuous heart
he might have noticed
the lack of curves
but he definitely saw the
curvaceous emotions
he didn’t only see
the dark skin
he saw the fairness
of my heart
he looked beyond
the tired and bruised body
and saw
the young and vibrant heart
When he came
to the kingdom of mine
he didn’t slay the dragons
he conquered them
