Reassurance

I know that you walk beside me

but at times I reach for you

just to make sure

that you are still there

I know what you think

and I feel how you feel

yet, sometimes I ask

just to hear you say it

I can take care of things alone

but sometimes I ask for help

just to make both of us feel better

I can walk alone

but I always wait for you

just to enjoy the companionship

we can always be strong

and battle our fights alone

yet I have learned that

it is nothing to be ashamed of

to share your battles and demons

with each other

because all of us need

a little bit of reassurance at times
